Google matches a promotion to products by its ID. FeedManager writes those IDs for you, so a campaign is one tag and one form.
A promotion for one tag's products writes its ID into promotion_id of those products in your Google product feeds — up to 10 promotions per product. A tag a promotion uses can't be deleted.
The ID is written from the moment you save until the promotion ends, so Google can review it before it starts. The dates decide when shoppers see it.
Saving, pausing or deleting a promotion rebuilds the promotions file and the feeds that carry its IDs, and so does a promotion's end.
New Google feeds map promotion_id to
{promotion_ids} by default; in an older feed, add that line on its Mapping tab. A promotion for
all products needs no ID on the products.
The promotions file
Click Create the Promotions File once. It is a feed of its own, in Google's tab-separated format, with everything your product feeds have.

Where they show
Not in Türkiye or other countries yet — the Promotions page says so too. Your Merchant Center account needs promotions switched on (Settings → Add-ons), which Google does by itself for many eligible accounts.
The file follows Google's promotions specification. Microsoft Advertising and ChatGPT promotions are not supported yet.
On the Free plan, or after a downgrade, your promotions are kept, but the file has no rows and product feeds write no promotion IDs until you upgrade.

Standard or above. The promotions file counts as one of your plan's feeds. After a downgrade your promotions are kept, but the file has no rows and product feeds write no promotion IDs.
A promotion applies to all products or to the products of one tag. For a tag, FeedManager writes the promotion's ID into promotion_id of those products in your Google product feeds, from the moment you save it until it ends — up to 10 promotions per product.
From its start date, once Google has reviewed it. Google reviews promotions before they start, so save them at least a day ahead; the ID is in your feeds from the moment you save, so the review can begin early.
Not yet. The promotions file follows Google's specification only.
Promotions come with the Standard plan and up, alongside every channel and tags.
